Today we are beginning a vinyl lined pool. The site was excavated
yesterday, and the pool walls have been bolted together, and the entire pool has
been leveled. A-frame braces are installed, as are deck support braces
that provide superior strength for the sidewalk around the pool.
Once the walls are set and ready, the line for the main drain for circulating
water from the bottom of the pool is run. This line comes up the side of
the pool, under the wall, and along a trench to the equipment pad located
adjacent
to the pool.
Here the equipment pad is visible. This is where all plumbing lines
will be run to. The pump, filter, heater, and electrical service are all
located here. The pad has been formed up, and will have concrete poured in
place in a few minutes.

Now the footing around the pool is laid. This locks the pool walls in
place permanently.

Now the outside of the pool has been backfilled with sand, compacted, and we
are putting down the concrete floor for the pool interior. The strings
that span the width of the pool are to mark the changes in floor elevations or
contour changes.

Today the liner is being installed. First the liner is stretched over
the pool and secured into the coping. A vacuum is used to remove air from
behind the liner.
The main drain frames are attached, and the water is started as soon as the
liner is properly placed. As the water level increases the frame and
gasket is attached at the step and the excess liner material is removed.
Once the pool is full the openings for the skimmer and return fittings are also
cut in.

Today the plumbing is being run for the pool. Please note that all the
plumbing lines are being run over compacted sand. This helps ensure that
there are no hard objects that can puncture a line in the future. The
lines are run from the pool along a trench to the equipment pad by the house.
We make every attempt to make single piece runs for every line, avoiding
fittings and clamps underground.

After the lines are run, backfill is completed and compacted. This
brings the grade up to where we can prepare to form and pour the concrete deck,
which surrounds the pool.

Today the forms are being set for the concrete deck around the
pool area. This particular job will require more than one pour due to the
size of the deck and the varying elevations.
Now the first pour can begin, this area is elevated from the deck around the
pool itself, and is very long. Fence posts for the gate have been placed
prior to the concrete being laid.
The next section will be put down early next week.
The next stage is put down today. A patio area next to the house
and a portion of the pool area are completed, leaving the rest of the patio and
around the pool for tomorrow. The filtration and
heating components have also been placed and plumbed begin
the circulation system of the pool.

Now the concrete deck is complete. This will also complete the
documentation of this installation. There are still tasks to be completed
such as, cleaning the pool, balancing the water, and saw cutting the concrete
after it has cured.
After
the homeowners have completed fencing and landscaping we will return to get a
couple of final pictures. We would also like to thank Bart and Mary Jo for
their patience in allowing us to document their pool installation.
